Our Missions Trip to the Ivory Coast

Here are some letters from when we were in Africa.

Letter 1: Our first impressions in Africa
Letter 2: Our first 2 weeks
Letter 3: Five weeks into our stay

"...Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age"  Matt. 28:19-20.

June 6-August 2, 2000, we traveled to Cote d'Ivoire (The Ivory Coast), West Africa, for a missions internship with Christian Missionary Fellowship International. We were part of a team of five interns who worked with Damon and Juli Jones in Abengourou with the Agni, Attie, and Djoula peoples. We were also able to spend part of our time with Wayne and Greta Meece, missionaries in Abidjan to the Liberian and Ghanaian refugees.

While staying in the Ivory Coast, we visited villages where churches have been established among the Agni and Attie peoples; gave devotions to the Djoula (Muslim) women and children gathered at the clinic while our teammates treated their physical ailments of malaria, parasites, malnutrition, and more; received language lessons from and made friends with church members in Abengourou, and attended youth group and Sunday morning services there when we were not in the villages. We also spent a few nights in the village of Ameakro without any of the other missionaries; just us and the fellow believers of the church in Ameakro. We consider that to be some of the best learning and growing time we had. For more detailed information, see our letters from the field!

We would like to thank all of those who joined us by supporting this ministry, and we hope that you will stick with us as prayer and financial partners as we seek God for His leading for future missions endeavors. We both feel we are called back to the field at some point, but God has not yet given us a destination or the timing.
